Routling runs on a Free tier with no time limit. A Pro license lifts the limits.

Everything structural - the graph, routing, device handling, sessions - is in the Free tier. Pro lifts caps on the processing and virtual-channel features.

Enterprise exists as a third tier and carries the same limits as Pro.

Checking your tier#

Preferences → License shows your plan, the email it is licensed to, and expiry if the license has one. On a paid tier it also shows Active devices as used / limit, which turns amber when you have reached the limit.

The Routling wordmark in the toolbar is tinted when you are on a paid tier.

Activating#

  1. Open Preferences → License.
  2. Click Activate License.
  3. Enter the purchase email and license key.
  4. Click Activate.

The activation is verified against Routling's licensing service. On success the tier changes immediately - no restart.

Machine binding#

A license is bound to the machine it was activated on. The activation server signs the license against a machine identifier computed locally.

This means:

  • Copying the license file to another PC does not work - the signature was made for a different machine.
  • Editing the file does not help; the verifier recomputes the identifier itself rather than trusting what the file claims.
  • Your license is tied to hardware, not to the install, so reinstalling Routling on the same machine keeps working.

Moving to another machine#

Preferences → License → Deactivate releases the current machine. You can then activate on a different one with the same key and email.

Expiry#

If the license has an expiry date, it is shown in the License tab. Past it, the app reverts to Free. Your sessions are not deleted - features simply cap again.

Offline use#

Activation needs a network connection. Once activated the license is stored locally and verified offline, so Routling works without a connection afterwards.
